Description

Using research-based rationales, teacher candidates will evaluate and create instructional materials and methods necessary for student mastery of foundational reading skills, to include: print concepts, phonological awareness, phonics, word recognition and fluency. Teacher candidates will understand and apply data-decision making strategies within assessment frameworks such as response to intervention and identify appropriate intervention strategies based on this information. Field experience required.
