Description

A basic introduction to operational issues addressed by manufacturing and service organizations. The underlying theme would be issues rather than analytical techniques. Tools for operational decision making will be introduced. Topics for this course will include: mission and operation strategy, productivity, product and service design, process selection, facilities layout, design of work systems, location planning and analysis, supply chain management, project management and inventory management. Quality management concepts, and on-site visits intended to show how concepts are used in a working environment. Prerequisite: MATH 135 & MATH 221 or Permission of the Program Chair. Offered Fall semesters.
