Description
The clinical component of this training program will be based in rural and/or underserved communities, primarily in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, and Alaska. The students will be based in a home community, a Clinical Learning Center, and will participate in supervised, integrated, clinical practice experiences in emergency medicine, family medicine, general internal medicine, general surgical/operative care, geriatrics, pediatrics, prenatal and women's health care, and psychiatry and/or behavioral medicine. Students will rotate through outpatient, emergency, inpatient, and long-term care settings throughout the clinical year as they gain experience and meet the objectives of the course. The Clinical Learning Centers will be in communities with critical access hospitals, which will have an active emergency room, essential specialists, and a strong family medicine and/or internal medicine base.
