Description

The instruction and hands on experience provided in this course will focus on the phases of patient specimen analysis. Preanalytical, analytical, and post analytical phases will be addressed through various experiences as shown below. Laboratory managment skills are pertinent to all 3 phases and will be taught using a combination of case studies, clinical correlations labs, and service learning projects.
Preanalytical phase skills will be developed learning and practicing phlebtomy and specimen processing. (Hands on, case studies, clinical correlations lab)
The Analytical phase will focus on molecular techniques and flow cytometry methodologies. (Case studies, clinical correlations lab)
Post analytical will cover the accurate reporting of patient results (Case studies, clinical correlations lab, hands on, discussions)
