Description

The emphasis is on application of psychosocial health promotion during changes in health and illness states and promotion of emotional and psychosocial health during developmental changes. Students will apply principles from psychology and sociology to explain the human response to suffering; and those generated in nursing to predict the outcomes of nursing interventions; apply theories of health behavior borrowed from the psychosocial disciplines to intervene in health behaviors, principles of screening and nursing care of individual and family responses to psychosocial distress. Students will spend approximately between 96 and 120 hours in the clinical laboratory setting. Co-requisite(s): NURS 314
