Description

The advanced study of world Literature from the 1650's to present. Representative works from a wide range of periods, languages, and cultures (both Western and non-Western) will be considered. Special attention will be given to works with major literary and/or historical significance, emphasizing research with primary and secondary sources and teaching world literature. Offered Summer semester. Recommended: An undergraduate introduction to literature or advanced literature course and a literary theory course (such as ENG 450W/ENG 550) or permission of Program Chair.
