Description
This course is a condensed overview of the history of visual arts in all media, across global cultures. The purpose of this course is to build a context for understanding the arts, structurally, socially, culturally and historically, with the intention of enriching daily life. Analysis of influential works of art provides an understanding of the arts as a method of communication and expression. Reading and lecture components of the course are augmented by the opportunity to develop personal aesthetics through a range of studio art projects, class discussions, gallery visits and writing assignments.
