Graham Potter has become increasingly untenable as Chelsea struggled, only securing one win in 10 matches under him and is facing increasing calls to be replaced. New co-owner Todd Boehly has increased pressure upon Potter.

Chelsea are long regarded as one of Europe's premier teams and excellence is expected from them. While they spend vast sums to achieve success, they also boast an active homegrown player development policy.

Frank Lampard was appointed interim manager of Chelsea in March after Graham Potter was fired, hoping to make an impressionful impression during their remaining games of this season. Unfortunately, so far he has failed in doing this by suffering two defeats at Wolves and Real Madrid respectively in both league and cup competitions.

He averaged only 1.67 points per game this season in the league - one of Roman Abramovich's lowest win percentages ever for any coach hired at Chelsea since 2004.

Frank Lampard was at the core of Chelsea's success, winning three Premier League titles, four FA Cups and a Champions League trophy during his time there. Fans have become fond of and deeply attached to him over his many years at Stamford Bridge.

But he is not the only one at Chelsea working hard to integrate its new players. Over this summer transfer window, Chelsea acquired newcomers such as Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech, Ben Chilwell and Thiago Silva and there will be much work ahead in getting them all working as one team.

At Chelsea FC, players have struggled to adapt to Frank Lampard's new way of playing football. Despite their best efforts, Chelsea are currently 11th in the Premier League table with 17 points behind fourth place and are unlikely to finish within its top four this season.

Chelsea scored 67 goals during Frank Lampard's first season as manager, trailing only Liverpool and Manchester City with 38 games played. They currently lie 11th in the Premier League but will hope for a strong showing this time around to reach the Champions League quarter-finals.

Enhancing goal-scoring rates requires taking into account numerous elements, with perhaps the most crucial one being selecting an attacking player to fill the striker role.

Alvaro Morata and Maurizio Higuain, two recent Chelsea forwards given this role, both failed to live up to expectations.

He has assisted in the development of newer players that were not as familiar with playing in the Premier League and allowed them to express themselves while building confidence to play their style of football.

He has already demonstrated his ability to achieve this in the past and now returns to Stamford Bridge for another chance. Without pressures or expectations weighing upon him, he can bring back positive culture that made him so popular as a player.

The Blues currently sit in 11th position in the league table; however, they don't expect to finish lower than this and if they manage to make it past Real Madrid in this season's Champions League competition then they will become one of Europe's premier clubs. It may present them with a tough test but could provide him with an opportunity to prove himself once more.
