Description

Students will learn and apply the fundamental principles of cryptography and its application to network security. Topics will include classical and modern cryptography, cryptographysis, secret key cryptosystems, public key cryptosystems, digital signature and authentication, hash functions and message digest, key distribution and key management, network security protocols. Students will focus on the practical aspects and applicaton of cryptosystems and security protocols in network systems such as the Internet. Prerequisite(s): C or better in CPSC 231 - Discrete Mathematics and a C or better in CPSC 320 - Networking II.
